| The mausoleum of the third Tokugawa shogun is also in Nikko. It is more restrained than Toshu-gu – but only a little bit. This figure stands in a gate in the complex. The figure gives a quite hostile impression, which appears to be the usual design in Buddhist sanctuaries. | ||
