Of all the sights in Nikko, Tosho-gu is the top one. This is the mausoleum over Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate that ruled Japan for two centuries and a half. This is not just a single shrine, but it is big complex and a one-word summary could be overmuch.
