Atlanta, the capital of Georgia and the bustling centre of the New South, is a very confusing place where about every second street is called Peachtree something. When I said this to friends who are from the area, they agreed and said that the streets are irregular. And indeed, the street layout does not always follow the strict grid pattern which is common in the US. But being European, that is not very challenging to me. What is challenging is the complete lack of consistency. I can be in a high-rise area and move two blocks to be in a residential area with expensive private houses. This complete lack of organisation certainly bewildered me. Just outside Atlanta is the Stone Mountain Park, which is centred around a very large rock that very spectacularly raises up from the ground. The second part of this set is from Stone Mountain State Park.
