A menu from a Romanian restaurant. What is remarkable is not the dishes, but the fact for all dishes the weight is specified. And this is not unique; this was so commonplace, that I assume that it is by regulation. Some dishes have multiple weights specified. I never figured that out exactly, but I think it relates to different components. As for what you should order if you only have one meal in Romania, there is no discussion. Get some mititei. (The fourth item from the bottom on the left side.) They are rolls of minced meat. I remembered them from my first stay in 1993, and I had them three times on this trip. It was three quite different settings, and they were marvellous each time. You order them by the piece and they are always served with mustard. |
