The place I stayed at, Tado Letea, was an experience in itself. The place was newly built/renovated, and everything in the room itself is in wood, even the beds. The walls are dense, and I found it very puzzling that the rooms were cool. When I arrived, outdoor temperatures were normal, peaking at, say, 27°C in the afternoon and below 20°C at night. But a long heat wave with temperatures over 35°C had ended just 2-3 days earlier. While it's charming with the strong smell of wood, let it be said: the beds were not comfortable at all. (But it was kind of cute that my pyjama smelled of resin when I came back to Tulcea.) There are en-suite bathrooms, but there is a catch: the hot-water tap did not produce any water. I was referred to another building where there was a heater – although the effect of the heater was minimal. Also, Letea is not the place where there is central water plant, but everyone have to take water from their own well. And you can't expect very clean water in the delta. When poured water into a glass, it had a yellow tone... |
