Boulevardul Unirii is a 4 km lonk boulevard that runs through the Centru Civic and which did not exist before Ceauşescu started his project. To give you a sense of what the Centru Civic you can look at this map that I scanned from an European road atlas. This map predates the creation of Bulevardul Unirii, and I've drawn a black line which illustrates where the boulevard is. You can see how the boulevard just cuts through the old street plan and you can understand that quite a few houses had to give way. .

The boulevard is mainly lined by residential houses. In 1993 far from all had been completed, and in some houses that were half-completed squatters had moved in. This time, I found long stretch that was just empty and behind trees I could see empty base plates for houses. Maybe some of the non-completed houses were demolished.
