If you are looking for monuments, the Revolution Square is the place to go in Bucharest: you find both the former royal castle and the former communist party headquarters here. Then again, both are former and this is not a square that is packed with people. There are two statues: in the foreground, Carol I, the first king of Romania, and in the back a white pillar with stains of blood raised in honour the martyrs of the revolution.
