My idea was to cross the Alpilles to Les-Baux-de-Provence on the other side, and then take the bus back to Arles from there. But it was not clear whether there actually was a bus. I had seen the time table on the internet, but at the bus stop in Saint-Rémy there was not a trace. It seemed like a good idea to inquire at the tourist information as well as get a map there. Alas, they were closed for lunch when I was there.

So I just followed the road into the mountains, and when I saw GR6 leave the road, I followed GR6.(GR = Grande Randonnée, the long major foot-paths that cross France.) The path was surprisingly difficult to walk. Slippery after the rain, and I had to crouch down for trees and bushes that grew above the path. I was getting in doubt whether I would continue.
