Pictures in Green and Grey
The Faroe Islands 2007
On a whim I decided that this year I would go to the Faroes Islands. A
different trip in several ways. Not really summer, but more like one extra week
of autumn. It was raining, the winds were fierce, and sometimes you could not
see very far. But there were spots of sun. And it was amazingly beautiful about
all
of the time. With green and grey as the major colours. The green from all the
grass, and the grey from the clouds and the mountains. If there are too many
pictures for you here, I've extracted the very best Faroe pictures on my
Assorted 2007
page.
Even if there are a few churches and some nice old-styles houses on the
pictures, the main feature is the scenery. Therefore I don't say very much about
the places I've been too. I've set the titles for the pictures from the place
where they have been taken, just to set of frame of reference. If you are just
as unacquainted with the islands as I was before I went there, just ignore the
titles, and enjoy the beauty of the landscape. (And if you still wonder why some
place names reappear, it's because I drove past more than once, and sometimes I
would first go there, and then see it across the water. The
Faroes is not a very big country.)
I've gathered some travel tips on the first pictures, in case you are tempted
to go there yourself.
