When some people hear "Patagonia" they may think of wild snow-capped mountains, glaciers and beautiful lakes. But for me Patagonia is most of all the vast area between the Andes and the Atlantic which is in rain shadow and the soil is poor. What I find fascinating is that you can travel long distances, but everything looks more or less the same. The topography may vary, but the vegetation is the same shrubs and short grass. Trees are only seen if they are planted. |
