The bottom floor and the basement in this building house a shop where you buy chocolate and other sweets, quite a big shop for that sort of goods. Maybe the Ukrainians have an unusually sweet tooth? Roshen is an old Soviet-era chocolate industry that was privatised and modernised, and got its current name from the owner Petro Poroshenko who somehow have been able to make a fortune from the chocolate industry. Petro Poroshenko was elected president in the elections that followed Yanukovych dismissal. The eatery on the second floor has no relation to Roshen, but is interesting for another reason. It is a varenytjnaja, why one would suspect that they specialise in varenyky, dumplings with various stuffings which is the Ukrainian national dish. |
