I devoted my last day in Atlanta to Stone Mountain Park. I took the underground to one stop before the terminus and then a bus out to Stone Mountain village from there I walked to the park (and got some extra walking; there were two roads in the same direction, and the local guy I asked pointed me to the wrong one). Stone Mountain is a giant granite outcrop (the largest of its kind on Earth). When the mountains were formed many eons ago, the boulder was trapped in the masses that formed the mountains. As time went by, the mountains eroded away, but the granite still stands.

I arrived to the west entrance which proved to be very strategic, because this is where the path to walk about this giant boulder starts. As we shall see, from other directions it is far too step to walk. I was certainly not alone talking this walk on this Sunday morning.
