Originally I had planned to spend only two days in Charleston, and I had a booked a rental car to drive down to Folkston in southern Georgia. But thanks to the Tea Party clowns in Congress the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge was closed. A great pity, but at least that I was saved 350 km of driving (and a about an equally long distance a few days later). I could have taken the car to Savannah, but I decided to take the evening train and spend the day at the Boone Hall Plantation. The day before I had splashed out on a cab in both directions, but this day I took the city bus in both directions. This had me walking up this majestic alley of live oaks draped in Spanish moss. |
