Paddling in the duckweed was difficult, and I did not really understand the buoys that were supposed to show me the canoe trail, so I gave up after an hour and took the forest trail. Which was kind of a mistake, because once the trail had left the pond there was nothing special about it. This board was little interesting, though. I learnt that they are conducting controlled forest fires. Forest fires are an essential part of the forest ecology and human interference has made the fires less common than they should be. Whence the controlled fires.
