The first real destination was New Bern, which is a smaller place than Wilson – 30 000 people – but which as lively as you can expect from a town of that size. New Bern is nicely situated on the confluence of the Neuse and Trent rivers. There are a couple of sights, and there is a historical centre with some quite nice houses of which we see one example here. In New Bern I picked up a rental car to tour the coastal areas of North Carolina.
