To get to the coastal area from Charlotte, I took the train to Wilson where I jumped on a bus to New Bern. There was a three-hour gap between the bus and the train though, so I got some time to explore Wilson, a city which fascinated me in being so – dull. True, I would pass through more than one non-descript place during this trip, but since was the first stop, the impression of dullness was the strongest. And, after all... The so-called "historical downtown" was quite small. And very quiet. Maybe the modern downtown is elsewhere? This is scene is Nash Street, the main drag, just a couple of blocks south of the centre, and there are several unexploited lots. Wilson left the impression of being a very small town, but from citypopulation.de, I see that there 50 000 inhabitants in this place.
