The Blue Ridge Parkway runs from Cherokee just outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to Waynesboro Virginia, and it is a great way to experience the Appalachian Mountains. The speed limit never exceeds 70 km/h, no commercial vehicles are permitted and there are plenty of stopping places where you can take in the view. At the same time, you never seem to drive through any dwellings. All this serves for an enjoyable trip in a leisurely tempo. I drove the distance from Asheville to Blowing Rock where I stayed for two nights and toured the surroundings the second day. Blowing Rock itself is a small town, and not much to put on camera. Included in this suite are also pictures from Charlotte where my trip ended. They are radically different from the beautiful scenes of the Blue Ridge Parkway, but there were too few pictures to warrant a page of their own.
