If you have seen the film Grand Budapest Hotel, you have seen interior of this building, because all the lobby scenes were shot here. The building used to hold the Karstadt department store, but it closed down a few years ago. Renewal works are on the way, and it is slated to reopen so that everyone can enjoy the splendid interior. (I was able to peek at through the glass doors, but the attempt to take a photo did not really work out.)

Reportedly, this is not the only film to have been shot in Görlitz, but it is quite popular for this purpose.
