Another segment of the wall that has survived is close by Oberbaumbrücke where a 1.3-km stretch has been left for graffiti artists. This particular graffiti painting is a good summary of it all. The soldier that jumps over the barbed wire is based on an actual situation: an East German soldier took the occasion to the escape when he was guarding the makeshift arrangements that had come up in August 1961.
