This was my first visit to Berlin (save for nine hours in 1983 when I was tied to a suitcase, and I could not come far from Berlin Ostbahnhof). I will have to admit that I did not find Berlin as startling as Paris or London. Since Berlin was severely damaged in WWII, there is less of beautiful buildings. At the same time, many of the important sites are related to horrors during the Nazi era and the division of the city during the Cold War. Not the least the latter has resulted in a very unique character of the city, since the area where the Wall stood has been the venue of city development. After all, the Wall ran right through the centre of Berlin.
I have arranged the pictures in themes rather than presenting them strictly chronologically.
