Leipzig is the second-biggest city in Saxony. While Leipzig also took damage from the war, it was nowhere as devastated as Dresden (or Berlin), and its Altstadt is certainly worth strolling around for a day. There are also some worthwhile museums, including Die Runde Ecke, which is where Stasi had their main office in Leipzig during the communist era and here is now an exhibition of their shameful activities. It was not very photogenic, though, so there are no pictures from it.
