Now I have parked my bicycle, and I have arrived to an sort of land that is very common in the Stockholm area, but, I am told, only appears here and in the south of Finland in our big world. Many years ago, I guess milliards of years, there was a high mountain, that now it has withered away. Normally such mountain has been covered by thick soil, but during the ice age the ice presses the ground down below sea level. Then as the ice withdraws, the ground bounces. The mountain is now exposed to the sea, and all soil on the top of the mountain is flushed away. Since then the land has risen even more, but there is still not much soil on the rocks. Pine is a tree that can make a living on a meagre diet, even in the small soil that has gathered in the cracks caused by the frost.
