So Dracula was a literary figure invented by Bram Stoker at the end of the 19th century. But he drew his character from a historic person, Vlad Ţepeş or Vlad the Impaler in English, who was born in this house. His father was known as Vlad Dracul – "Vlad the devil". While the both Vlads lived in Transylvania which was part of Hungary for some years, both would become voivods of Wallachia, and Vlad Ţepeş would later found Bucharest. This house is at Piaţa Muzeului. (It's the house to the left beyond the side street in the previous picture.)
