Tulcea is a city with nearly 100 000 souls which serves as the gateway to the delta. If you travel to the delta, it is very likely that you will spend the night before and the night after the trip in Tulcea, Tulcea itself is not that exciting, but it offers a fine view over the Danube, and the place is perfectly passable. To be exact, you only see two-thirds of the Danube here – one of the main arms of the river forks off just before Tulcea. It's impressive enough.
