The Coromandel Peninsula

The Coromandel Peninsula jutts out on the east coast of the North Island somewhat south of Auckland. A short description of the peninsula is that it consists of mountains and beaches, making it a popular tourist destination. Still, there are no major cities, and there is nowhere the tourist explosion there is in Queenstown. Rather the feeling of a backwater place is still retained.

I stayed for four nights on the peninsula in Coromandel Town. Unfortunately, several days offered rain, which reduced the pleasure of looking around. This set includes mainly includes pictures from the rainy days. A second set, The Coromandel Walkway, has pictures from a day when it was sunny.
