Château Comtal occupies quite some space in the northern end of the Cité. The castle was the heart of the medieval Carcassonne. Seeing the castle is of course a must for everyone visiting the Cité. Not the least because you can climb the city wall and walk along the wall for quite some distance, even if not the whole way round.
