It was raining as I left home. When I got to Arlanda, the airport north of
Stockholm, it was snowing. When I came to Paris, it was rain there was well. And
as the TGV train rolled south, the rain continued. But in Lyon I saw some block
of flats on a hilltop, and the top of the houses were sunlit. As the trained
continued through the Rhône valley, the clouds dispersed entirely. Right now I
am outside the TGV station in Avignon, it's 18°C and the sun is shining. What
does it matter that the area is dull, and that I have to wait for two hours to a
bus to Arles? After a cold and hard winter with far too much snow, this was
exactly what I needed. By the way, the clock in the picture is not correct; it
has not been adjusted to daylight savings time. (This was the first day for DST
this year.)
