52. The Road to Posadas

Estrella had arranged a transfer for me to Posadas. This was considerably more expensive than the ride from Mercedes, but it just seemed messy to go back to Mercedes, when I was heading for Iguazú. (Posadas is on the way to Iguazú from Carlos Pellegrini.) My driver, Gustavo, had arrived already the night before, because he was uncertain of which condition the road was in.

To a large extent the road was in good condition, but some parts were very muddy. Nothing for your two-wheel driven small car! Gustavo had a 4WD jeep, and not even four-wheel drive may be enough for you to be safe. We had to stop and help another 4WD that had gone stuck in the mud.

Since the sun was shining for a change, it was a very nice trip. The landscape is mainly flat, and open fields, but it's interesting to see how people are actually living out here. There is also some forest, planted forest. And we drove past a forest industry, and this fascinated me. This industry was may 40-50 km from the main road, which means that transports to and from the factory has to go on this muddy road!
