On the way back from Cafayate, I made a detour along RN40. (RN40 is not just
any road. It goes all the way from the Bolivian border down to Río Gallegos,
the southernmost city on the Argentine mainland. RN40 is of very varying
quality. Sometimes it's paved and in very good condition. Sometimes it's only
tracks. The later I've experienced in Patagonia.) I followed RN40 to San
Carlos from where the road continues unpaved. From San Carlos I took a
shortcut road back to the road to Salta. This shortcut road pass the small
village of Corralito.
