Pisagua was another city that rose during the nitrate era, but when the nitrate boom collapsed, there was no future for Pisagua, and today only some 150 souls live there. But some of the buildings that were built in its heydays still stands. This is the theatre, here seen from the side. You can sense a grande façade, but the rest is shambles. Pisagua was a place I reached on an excursion from Iquique. |
