After my days on Chiloé, I went to the area around Lago Llanquihue. This is a fairly large lake; a drive around it is 185 km. Regardless where you are on the lake, on a clear day you can see the very characteristic profile of the vulcano Osorno, as well as the less characteristic profile of the vulcano Chabuco (which blew its top just a few years ago).
I started by basing myself in Puerto Varas, which is a tidy town where tourism very much is the main activity. Beside the lake view and the beaches there are no direct attractions close to the town, but the town has plenty of tour companies.
This set only includes pictures from Puerto Varas and some other of the places directly on the lake that I visited on a hot and lazy day. The following sets are from other places in the area with some stunning landscapes, and all of these sets but one also features the omnipresent Volcán Osorno.
