There is not much water in Río Deseado normally, but it nevertheless has a 45 km long estuary, Ría Deseado. The estuary is special, because it is flooded by the sea, why it creates a quite special environment. The estuary is surrounded by cliffs and there are many stunning views.
One of the most stunning panorama points is known as Los Miradores de Darwin. Apparently, this is how far Darwin sailed up the Ría, about 40 km from Puerto Deseado.
I went there with a guide, and this is not a place where you go on your own, as the point is on private property, and you need to pass through a locked gate.
The set also includes pictures from a walk I took along the water towards the sea out from Puerto Deseado. It was nice as long as the sun was shining and the temperature peaked above 20°C. But I got a little soaked on the way back, as I was walking in the rain against the wind. Yes, it can rain in Patagonia. (In fact, I had several days with rain while I was in Puerto Deseado.)
