Zhongzheng is the most central area of Taipei, although it is more of a business district. A centrepiece is the 2-28 Peace Park, originally created under Japanese rule. Its current name commemorates an uprising that started on 28 Feb 1947, which was fought down violently with at least 28 000 persons dead.
