Nikko is a small town some 100 km north of Tokyo where there are memorial shrines for the first and third Tokugawa shoguns as well as a few more sights. Some 15 km up the mountain from Nikko is the small village of Chuzenji where there is a waterfall.
I visited Nikko and Chuzenji on a day trip from Tokyo also in 2009, but that was a day with several mishaps, so I wanted to come back to see the things I did not see in 2009. (As for the mishaps in 2009, see the Nikko pictures from that year.)
Just like the day at Mount Fuji, this was a wonderful clearblue day.
