The reason I headed for the ropeway station is that there is a colony of monkeys hanging around there. You could ask why of all places on the island they are there, but reportedly they are wild and not planted there as a tourist attraction. Be careful when you take pictures of monkeys, they do not always want to be on camera! I learnt that the hard way in Nikko a few days later. These monkeys seemed to be use to photographing though. But then there are lot of tourists passing through here.
