It seems like every Japanese city has a tower or some other high building where you can go up to take in the view. The Kyoto Tower is special so far that they have put something that looks like a lighthouse on top of a regular 12-storey house. As you can see there is a hotel, and it is worth a mention: I stayed my first and last night here, and I got a very friendly reception. (Why I did not stay here all nights? Well, coming to Kyoto when it's spring break and cherry blossom and not having booked a hotel, is not that intelligent. I had to take what I could get.)
