Just south of Soifa, still within the city limits, is Mount Vitosha, of which the highest peak reaches as high as 2290 m. It's a great asset for the Sofians, and on a sunny October Sunday like this one, plenty of people come here to hike or just have a picnic. This is an area called Momina Skala where there is a restaurant, a hut and a picnic area. My flight home was shortly after six in the evening, so I was a little short on time. I took a cab up tp this place, and walked down to the Boyana district, a fairly short walk. Including a detour, Google Maps tells me that it was a little more than 6 km. I still felt it in my legs for several days, because it was a quite strenuous downhill. |
