According to legend, the apostle Andrew sailed up the Dnipro and at one point he went ashore and climbed a hill placed a cross and prophesised that a great city would be erected on this site. This is that very hill. The church was completed in 1762. This is the end of Andrew's Descent. Or rather the beginning of it – it's after all a descent.
