The shortest route from Podil to the centre is to take the funicular up the slope and arrive just behind St Michaels Monastery. There definitely is an aura of elegance in the hall. (Presumably from Soviet times. Somehow, the Soviets had a knack for good interior in travel environments, as we will see in the forthcoming photos.)
