The statue outside the Golden Gate is supposed to depict Yaroslav the Wise, one of the greatest rulers of Kievan Rus, holding Kiev in his hands. But his unnatural, not to say impossible, pose, has made the statue a piece of ridicule. Sometimes called Monument to the Kiev Cake.
