My friends Denis and Oksana seemed to have different opinions on what Batman refers to in the context of Maidan. Denis seemed to think that it is the figure on the top of the Independence Column, whereas Oksana voted for the figure on the top of the triumphal arch. I will have to agree with Oksana; Batman seems to be a fitting name for this figure.
