This is from Konchi-in, which is part of a Zen temple. Zen temples often have a "dry garden", a gravelled yard with some stones the the Zen-Buddhist monks meditated over. This garden is known as The Crane and the Cradle, so-called after the rock formations. I will have to confess that I saw neither of them – I focused on the overall beauty of the garden.
