This was the palace where the Tokugawa shogun stayed when he was in Kyoto. This was the first sight I went to when I had arrived in Kyoto, and got myself a room in a hotel (which was a little tricky). The palace itself was no fantastic in my opinion. It was not permitted to take photos, and the speed on the crowd going through was rather high, so it was difficult to get any lasting impressions. The garden around the palace was more attractive.
