Behind the sanctuary there is a path leading up the mountain, and the path is marked by orange torii arcs. If some looks pink, I guess this is because they are old and have bleached. According to the guidebook, the arcs are replaced in a ten-year cycle, and in some place all that was left was the "roots" of the worn-out arc.
