The Cherry Blossom is an important part of Japanese culture. On http://www.jnto.go.jp/eng/indepth/seasonal/sakura2009/ you can see when the blossom was expected to begin and when full bloom was expected. If you read this in a later year, I expect that you can replace the year i the link to check out the current situation.
In this site I've collected pictures on cherry blossom, and quite some other bloom for that matter. There is not much text, but in the very most cases only the date and the place. It starts off with half-blooming trees in a chilly Tokyo, to more or less full bloom in Kyoto. On to Kyushu, there also the leaves were coming (the trees are much more beautiful when there are only flowers). Back north, and now it's full bloom except on higher altitudes, and finally the flowers fade away.
