From Lecce I caught to the express train to Pescara where I got on a train that took me to Sulmona, where I changed trains once more, now one heading for Avezzano, in the middle of the Apennines. After Sulmona, the railway follows a big half-circle around a value. In the brilliant sunshine the view from the train was really great, and I was able to take some nice pictures. Keep an eye on the distant motorway – it will reappear.
