Etna had a major outbreak on its south side 2001-2002, and I guess that was when the this house was buried in the flow of lava. Strange enough, just some metres behind the house there were some trees standing that apparently had survived the ordeal. But I think those were also the last trees I saw on the way up to the cabin-car station. (Or rather the first on the way down, since I took this picture on the way home.)
