48. Rila Monastery

The Rila Monastery is beautifully situated in the mountains. At my visit it was also very newly renovated and it looks gorgeous. (I had dinner later with a friend and his wife, and she had been there two years earlier at which time it was not this brilliant.) Notice how lucky I was with the weather!
