Once upon a time the classic Les Halles on this spot. For 800 years it was the main food market in Paris. But in the 1970s they were replaced by the modernistic shopping mall Forum des Halles. Or least it was modernistic when it was built, today it's maybe getting a little dated. Nevertheless, it still a place where people of Paris meet up, and it was no problem finding a restaurant in the surrounding area.
