San Salvador de Jujuy is the capital of the Jujuy province, and usually referred to as Jujuy only. It's 120 km north of Salta which is the capital of the Salta province. Jujuy is very clearly the little brotther of Salta. It is from Salta Tren a las nubes leaves, and it is Salta you find most tour operators. And Salta has several colonial buildings, whereas Jujuy does not have much character at all.

After my days to Tilcara, Humahuaca and Iruya, I desceded to Jujuy before I set off on my return trip to Buenos Aires. I had reserved an afternoon to see the place, but I got a feeling of having done the city after just a few minutes.

Anyway, this building once hosted the railway station, but today it is used for trade fairs. (Today, railways in Argentina is almost only used for freight trains. The only passenger services are commuter trains in the Buenoes Aires area, and tourist trains like Tren a las nubes.)
